Reducing Significantly GHG emissions, water ecotoxicity, CM scarcity and use of hazardous substances in electronics sector:

– using bio-based materials substitution for the dielectric part of the PCB and low energy processes, both for the assembly and recycling, leading in the LCA to an increase to more than 1% of the proportion of kg-CO2-eq of the bio-based POC end-of-life related emissions in comparison with classical approach.

– addressing the safe, ethical and sustainable use of PCB non-critical raw materials, especially for the non-hazardous chemicals (composite, CC, CC remover, no BFR), and realistically aiming at 50 % more recycle/reuse of them by 2030.

Replacing by 2030 European PCB manufacturing in the global competition at the value chain level:

– 10 companies at least will be interested in using the new technology, because we’ll provide a real case of application of circularity for electronics devices that draw the path toward a large-scale industrial adoption.

– potential market share for PCB with bio-based substrates with standard technology 2/4-layers and Class 2 requirements will be 436M€ in comparison with a European production value of 1758M€ and a global production value of 97505 M€ in 2022

– for the recycling part, 70wt% at least of waste PCB could be processed with biodegradation and bioleaching, which can be a game changing value.

Furthermore, at a macro-economic level, the development of our process reduces European dependence on materials.

Promoting interdisciplinary studies, equipping a new generation of engineers and scientists in new knowledge in green electronics, an area where Europe aspires to lead:

– 2,000-5,000 students, amateurs and professionals alike with around 20-40 given courses directly concerned.

– around 20 publications and participation to conferences, notably in pedagogical journals or conferences. of eco-friendly electronic materials and providing integrated solutions aligned with the EU Chips Act. with a total number of citations of our papers aimed at 100 minimum just after the project’s end.
